These three concepts have described the core of our work since our founding. We are interested in everything that flows in the subsurface—and since 1996, we have been developing solutions to understand, evaluate, and reliably predict these processes.
The IBeWa Ingenieurpartnerschaft für Bergbau, Wasser und Deponietechnik was founded in Freiberg in April 1996. The objective was to establish a close link between the requirements of the mining industry and the scientific expertise of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. To this day, our clients benefit from our combination of current research findings with many years of engineering practice.
What once began in a single-room office is now a modern engineering company equipped with an office, laboratory, and workshop. At our location in Freiberg, we develop our own measuring methods and instruments, determine the flow-related properties of rocks, construction materials, and sealing materials, and capture flow processes both in the laboratory and under real conditions in the subsurface.
The acquired data form the basis for numerical models, which we use to realistically map and predict long-term flow, mass, and heat transport processes. Our work supports, among other things, the evaluation of sealing structures in mining, the final disposal of waste, the water balance of mining heaps and landfills, as well as the storage of fluids and energy in the subsurface.
More than 340 engineering projects, research endeavors, and parameter studies for national and international clients have continuously expanded our understanding of these processes. With our interdisciplinary team currently consisting of 11 employees, we combine scientific curiosity, modern measurement technology, and engineering experience into practical solutions.
Every project expands our knowledge. That is why we never stop learning.
